Last chance to participate in January activities!

Today is the last day to vote in the January poll at right, and the January writing contest will end at the stroke of midnight on the night of January 31.

We've received 89 votes in the poll as of today. I wonder if we can push it into triple digits by the 6 p.m. deadline? Send your friends, family and co-workers to mydailyfortune.net to vote!

As for the writing contest, we've received a handful of really great entries, bu there's still a good chance to win. You have two ways to participate: write about what one of my fortunes means to you, or write about one of your own fortunes. And remember, this contest isn't being judged on writing ability; it's being judged on the content of the story itself. (That means you don't have to be a good writer to win.)

Here's the best part - the winner of the January contest wins their very own FortuneKeeper!

Since I know some of the people who have entered the contest, I'm handing off the judging duties to an impartial third party.

One last bit of housekeeping. I'm looking for ideas for a February poll question. It's gotta be fortune cookie-related, but that's the only restriction. If you have an idea, let me know by submitting a comment to this post.

Thanks for reading, and get those votes and writing contest entries in today!

  1. Haven't been able to get my hands on any Chinese this month. Will try for Feb. *shrug*

  2. Well, for the poll thing, a lot of people don't necessary live by their fortune cookie fortune, but a lot swear by their astronomical sign. Maybe something related to that? Like how much does the cosmos guide your life one way or another? Do you follow your horoscope, fortunes, signs that are around you, or something like that.

  3. How about this: Do you think the fortune in the fortune cookie was ment and written just for you. It was no accident that you got it.

No way don't believe in fate___
I got a fortune cookie last Friday and it said "Everyone agrees you are the best". Now that had to be intended just for me!

  4. I got one a few years ago that said very simply, "You are pretty." I kept it for several yeas in my wallet until it fell apart.

  5. You are pretty, Dave. Now - just print this page out, cut out those words and keep it in your wallet.
