Today's fortune: Treasure what you have.
Classic example of a "Pep Talk" fortune. I've received them many times before, and they always do exactly what they're designed to do. They make people feel good.
This was a pretty crummy day, for a lot of reasons, one of those days all of us have from time to time where nothing goes quite right. If I hadn't opened this fortune this morning, I would probably be in a bad mood. But I'm not. Every time something bad happened today, I used this fortune to put it into perspective.
You know what? I have a lot to treasure.
I won't bore you with the details of the awesome parts of my life, but I will give you one example of what I'm talking about. Last night Jamie and I were sitting around watching television. Nothing good was on, but when we flipped past the reality show "Toddlers & Tiaras," we stopped to watch.
The show is nothing but awful - it's about despicable pageant mothers who subject their equally unlikeable four-year-olds to spray tans, revealing outfits and slutty dances with the hopes of winning a cheap plastic crown and a horribly inflated title, something to the effect of Ultimate Magnificent Super Grand Supreme Unlimited Gigantic Mega Queen.
After that was over we watched an hour's worth of "I Didn't Know I Was Pregnant," which surprisingly is about women who didn't know they were pregnant until the baby's head popped out. No kidding - apparently this happens often enough that a reality show has been dedicated to it.
As we watched these cheesy reality shows, Jamie and I had a blast. We were riffing lines, poking fun at the people people and generally laughing our butts off.
It was a great night. And it's one of thousands of great nights we've had.
Tonight we're going to chow down on frozen pizza (after we cook it, of course) and flip around for more schlocky TV.
And we're gonna treasure it.
