This is an easy one. Tonight we celebrated our friend Kristen's birthday by meeting her and our mutual friend Garrett at a local Chinese restaurant. The food was good, the company was better, and the complementary birthday brownie at the end as amazing.
Kristen and Garrett have been over to our house several times, and I'm sure they'll be over several times more. "Cultured" and "artistic" destribes both of them perfectly.
Kristen is a dancer, a really great one, which is one of the most artistic expressions out there. She's from St. Louis, and although it's just on the other side of the state from Kansas City, we're learning a lot about her city's culture - like, for example, we discovered tonight that St. Louis trick-or-treaters are expected to tell a joke in exchange for candy! I think that's awesome, and I'd never heard of it before tonight.
Garrett, my oldest friend, is an artist in numerous media (including a blog), but mostly he's a painter and graphic artist. Garrett's work is profound and beautiful. Since we grew up together, Garrett's culture is similar to mine in a lot of ways, but since high school he's become a huge fan of a wide variety of music, and he's introduced a lot of great bands to us.
Jamie and I are blessed by these two friends and the art and culture they bring into our lives.
Shucks :) Thanks, Matt. The feeling is mutual.
