Today's fortune: October 9, 2011

Today's fortune: Where there is will, there is way.

I haven't re-read my post from yesterday yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if I sounded a little out of sorts. Truth be told, I was sick as a dog last night with a lovely fall cold. When I woke up this morning I was a little better, but still stiff and sore all over with a stuffy nose and a sore throat. Also, my left hand is cramped up big time from working on my brother's driveway yesterday.

Whenever I get sick like this, I usually feel terrible for three or four days, then just crummy for a few more before I head toward normalcy. Yesterday was day one. Today is day two. Which means tomorrow - Monday, and a work day - is day three.

So after I read this morning's fortune, I set the course for my will and established a goal: to feel good enough tomorrow morning to go to work.

Jamie has been babying me along all day by bringing me water and medicine, making breakfast, and serving up a soothing bowl of soup and a grilled cheese sandwich for lunch. After watching a little football and taking a lengthy nap... I'm starting to feel a lot better.

My throat is still sore and my nose is still stuffy and my hand still aches. But if I had to go to work right now, I would bitch about it, but I would probably be able to go.

Hopefully there will be no relapse into further sickness during the night. However, where there is will, there is way. I'm willing myself to feel better. So far it's working.
