Today's fortune: December 27, 2011

Today's fortune: Idleness is the holiday of fools

I returned to work today after a ten-day vacation.

My holiday certainly wasn't foolish - I wasn't idle by any means, preparing, celebrating and cleaning up from Christmas - but it was very relaxing. I did spent moments of idleness during my time off.

But now that I'm back to work, idleness is a distant memory. I admit, it was pretty hard to get out of bed this morning, but it was actually good to see all my pals and get back in the swing of thing with my widgets.

Now, as for my after-work life, I'm fixing to have a whole lot more free time on my hands about five days from now.

As this project draws to a close, I find myself struggling to comprehend what life will be like without the daily presence of fortune cookies. Two things are certain. Since I open the cookies and post the fortunes in the mornings before I go to work, I won't have to wake up so early after the end of the year. And I won't have to plan my days and evenings around comprehending, following and writing about the cookie messages.

But I'm pretty sure I won't be idle. In fact, I'm promising myself I won't be idle. You could call it a New Year's Resolution. I could easily fall into the trap of not writing, not attempting to grow. And I may retreat into those habits for a week or so after the first of the year (I think I deserve it). But I am not going to allow myself to be come idle.

I plan to keep writing every single day, if not online at my other blog, The Henry Wiggen Blog, then in other formats. I'm going to continue polishing up my novel. I may even try to do something further with what I've written on this blog.

2012 looks to be a busy year for me. Maybe not as busy as '11 - but I'm not going to disappear.
